What does it mean to be a winner?
Posted: 7/7/2006

What does it mean to be a winner? Vince Lombardi said it best in a speech, which went something like this. Winning is not a sometime thing it’s an all the time thing. You don’t do things right some of the time but all the time. Winning is a habit but so can be losing.

In the game of life there is no room for 2nd place, you always want to win or never finish 2nd again. It is and always has been an American zeal to be first in anything we do to win again and again.

In any game you play you must be prepared from the ground up. You must be physically strong and mentally tough and you must feel your worthiness to win in your heart, admitting to yourself you don’t want to be second.

It is a reality of life that people are competitive. The most competitive games draw the most competitive people. The winning of an election is just that. To know the rules and objectives of the game. The objective of the game is to win fairly and squarely but by the rules. But you must win. There is something in a good person that really yearns for discipline and the harsh reality of head to head combat.

I believe in God and human decency, but I firmly believe any mans finest hour-his greatest fulfillment to all he holds dear-is that moment when he has to work his heart out in a good cause and is exhausted on the field of battle-Victorious.

This whole election process needs to be scrutinized and allowed to follow the above tenets that were laid down in Vince Lombardi’s speech.

Michigan and America deserves to win. Now lets go out there in the state and world and prove us worthy.

Lets Get This Job Done Together

The system that is running this great state of ours namely the current Representatives & Senators, Judges and governor Must think that we the people are just plain stupid. The common people have been beaten down so badly we have lost sight of our common goal, namely the right to liberty and pursuit of happiness. These words ring freely in the politics of our times but I have come to believe the politicians that we have been electing in the last few decades are only paying lip-service to those principles, they don't even know the meaning of those terms any more. Many of these politicians come from wealthy parents have never worked an honest job in their lives or have forgotten how hard it was for them to become successful and now want to keep that wealth at others expenses. They have become greedy.

We are just ordinary people, but can become extra-ordinary people by changing the people that are supposedly doing our bidding for us and make them do what we want them to do. We do have a vision, us common people, it is the same now as it was in the beginning of our country even though the world that we live in has changed significantly we still live by the same constitution. Something seems to have happened in the last decade, certain rudeness and interpretation of our founding documents, which seem at this time to be leading us nowhere. We have a love affair with corruption and telling half-truths, criminality, spinning tales. Allot of nimbyisms (not in my back yard) actions being taken place. Everyone is an activist with an agenda, nobody is pulling in one direction, and it’s like a dog running around the tree trying to catch its tale.

I want to give the common people hope. I want to get fellow politicians on the side of no more posturing, lets role up our shirtsleeves and make some decisions. Now all the politicians make us fear, that if we do something they feel we are at a precipice and our system will fold like a house of cards and we will come tumbling down. I believe if we all get together constructively we can do anything, but if we keep fractionalizing within ourselves we will fall down that slope of despair to doom. I want to inspire the move out of fear and make our founding fathers proud of what we have done with their words and ideas and turn them into actions.

We need to work on our fiscal and economic history, labor markets, land use, investments, employment, health care, agriculture, forestry and mining, government bodies, expenditures, economic development, education, welfare system, do we want capitalism, free-enterprise, socialism or what. Rather than amending what we have is place we must do things differently. It has to be a hands on approach, mistakes will be made but if we stay with it our ship will start to go down the canal to somewhere. Right now we a floundering. I want to be apart of the change, please elect me give me a chance.

My name is Bob Ross and I have come to the conclusion that Americans need to developed a vision for the future, they have to get behind that vision and make it work for all Americans and not just for a few. This applies to Michiganians also even though sometimes the citizens of this state wonder if we are not forgotten by the union of states. We can only make our visions occur by all of us taking responsibility to make it occur. It is so within our grasp. It starts by getting out and voting for the right people. The incumbent that I will be running against has done very little for his constituents, he has violated campaign finance laws and has spent 3 to 5 times more than the job pays to get elected so he owes allot to allot of people I am sure who are not even constituents.

America has developed to where it is by ordinary citizens doing extraordinary things. We came to be because our forefathers did not want nor need the aristocracy to lead us. We just need to believe in ourselves and feel or believe that we are good and have good intentions.

We must allow activists to be because that is our American way free speech is very important in allowing ideas to flow, but we cannot continue to let the minorities or special interest groups paralyze us with their venom but work thru the blockades they present and allow the system to go forward for a better future. I don't have the answer yet as to why we deify people who are no different from ordinary people except they became rich and famous, most generally by luck or birthright.

I really have a problem with the prosperity gospel where it appears that ministers believe that the riches of the earth are only available to those who they believe are righteous.

I Have a problem with the chosen people concept. We are all in this together.

I have a problem with the trickledown theory. The money never gets to the people who are the bottom layer they only get vapors. Just enough to keep them toiling forever.

I do believe in the system of Free Enterprise and capitalism. Don't forget it is a misnomer it is not free but we are free to pursue our individual dreams. I truly believe this.
