Former Sheriff Endorses Al Cavasin for State Senate
Former Eaton County Sheriff Rick Jones, who now serves as 71st District state representative, today endorsed Republican candidate Al Cavasin for the Michigan Senate.
Cavasin, a Jackson businessman, is running against Democratic incumbent Mark Schauer.
"I've spent more than 30 years in law enforcement and we need more people like Al Cavasin in the Legislature," said Jones. "Public safety and
security remain top priorities as we build a future for Michigan. With his background, Al would bring a lot to the table during the decision-making process."
Cavasin is the president and CEO of the Great Northern Sentry Company, a Jackson-based security services firm. He has 32 years of experience in contract management, security and undercover investigations.
Cavasin also is a U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam.
"I want to put his expertise to work," Jones said."Michigan's future depends on job providers and employees living and working in safe communities. Al Cavasin understands this and would help keep Michigan moving forward."
The 19th Senate District comprises Calhoun County and most of Jackson County.
